Teacher Education Theory

※ For undergraduate students in the College of Education, Introduction to Education is mandatory.

Among the following teacher education theory courses, 6 courses totaling 12 credits or more must be completed.
(For students admitted before the 2012 academic year, 7 courses totaling 14 credits must be completed.)

  • As an introductory course in education, this course examines philosophical ideas and theories related to the concepts and purposes of education, and provides a systematic understanding of issues related to the nature of education.

Philosophy and History of Education

  • This course enables prospective teachers to acquire philosophical foundations of educational knowledge and to form appropriate educational values, dealing with major theories of learning, intelligence, aptitude, giftedness, and motivation with a focus on educational application.

Curriculum

  • This course enables prospective teachers to obtain basic knowledge of curriculum and teaching, cultivate the ability to analyze school-level curriculum documents, and understand major changes and issues related to the national curriculum.

Sociology of Education

  • This course examines the relationship between school and society and basic theories of the sociology of education, enabling students to theoretically analyze school-related social reality and cultivate awareness of educational issues in Korea.

Educational Psychology

  • This course provides a comprehensive understanding of psychological theories foundational to education, and covers educational implications emphasized in the national curriculum, based on scientific evidence.

  • This course examines general theories of educational evaluation, the role and value of evaluation in schooling, and cultivates the ability to apply various evaluation methods, develop tools, select appropriate tools, and use evaluation results.

  • This course covers educational administration and management required for teachers' duties, helping them understand school organizational systems and develop the ability to efficiently manage classroom operations and student life guidance.

  • This course covers theories and practices required for teaching and learning; in particular, it provides opportunities to understand instructional design, media, and strategies, and to apply diverse instructional methods to actual teaching.

  • This course aims to develop students' abilities in counseling, understanding children's and adolescents' developmental tasks and problems, focusing on major counseling theories and methods, and cultivating capacities for school violence, child abuse, and youth counseling tasks.
